EPA estimates are tested under controlled conditions. Real-world driving includes traffic, hills, weather, AC use, tire pressure, cargo weight, and driving style. Most drivers get 10-20% lower MPG than the EPA estimate. City driving typically gets the worst mileage, highway the best.
